Stableford
A scoring format based on points per hole instead of total strokes, where a bad hole costs you less than in regular stroke play.
Points are awarded relative to par (one common scale: 2 points for par, 3 for birdie, 1 for bogey, 0 for anything worse), and you add up points instead of strokes. Because a blow-up hole only costs you 0 points instead of adding 6 or 7 strokes to your card, Stableford tends to keep rounds feeling less punishing, and is popular in casual and club events.
