A hole-by-hole format where the single lowest score on a hole wins that hole's stake, and a tie carries the stake over to the next hole.
Because a tie carries the stake forward instead of splitting it, skins tend to snowball, several tied holes in a row can turn one hole into a multi-skin swing.
That escalating-stakes mechanic is exactly what makes the format popular for casual money games and TV events like the old PGA Tour Skins Game (1983 to 2008), which featured Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player, and Tom Watson in its first edition.
