Lie (of the Ball)
How the ball is sitting on the ground before your next shot, cleanly on short grass, buried in the rough, or perched on a slope, which affects what shot is realistically possible.
A good lie sits the ball up on short, even grass with a clear path to the clubface. A bad lie, buried in the rough, on hardpan, in a divot, or on an uneven slope, limits which club and swing you can realistically play, no matter how well you strike it.
