Ready Golf

An informal approach to pace of play where whoever is ready hits, instead of strictly playing in honor order, common (and encouraged) in casual rounds.

Despite feeling like old etiquette, this is a fairly recent, formal push: the USGA and R&A only wrote it into the actual Rules of Golf in 2019 (Rule 5.6), as part of a broader campaign against slow play. A Golf Australia survey found 94% of clubs that promoted it to members saw some improvement in pace of play.
