Face-Balanced vs. Toe Hang (Putter)
Two ways a putter's weight balances when you rest it on your finger, which usually tells you what kind of stroke it's designed for.
Balance the putter on a finger under the shaft: if the face points straight up, it's face-balanced, better suited to a straight-back-straight-through stroke. If the toe drops down toward the ground, it has toe hang, better suited to a stroke with some natural arc (opening on the backswing, closing through impact). Neither is "better", matching the putter's balance to your actual stroke shape is what matters.
